The Enduring Legacy of Curtis Packaging

They say “location is everything” — at Curtis Packaging, we’ve taken that to heart in a way few companies ever do. Since 1845, we have operated under the same roof in Sandy Hook, Connecticut — truly weaving our history into the very walls of our facility.

A Living Heritage

What makes our story special is that through every transition — from a comb and button factory to box making, to a modern luxury packaging innovator — we never left our founding address. Our operation continues in the same Sandy Hook facility. That continuity is more than symbolic: it anchors us to our roots, gives us a unique institutional memory, and drives a stewardship mindset. Generations of Curtis family members, later joined by the Droppo leadership, have guided the company through expansions, technological upgrades, and re-branding — all while staying in place. From the installation of the first world-class printing presses (Koenig & Bauer 106) to being the first carbon-neutral packaging company in North America, innovation and respect for legacy have gone hand in hand.

Why Staying Put Matters

Foundation of trust – clients and partners knows we aren’t newcomers. We’ve been mastering our craft of luxury folding cartons for generations.

Modernization over time — maintaining and upgrading a building over nearly two centuries means we embed quality into our infrastructure, not just our output.

Cultural memory — working in the same place nurtures institutional knowledge, pride, and continuity.

Symbolic strength — we don’t just talk about tradition, we live it with our core values.
