Two 51-inch, Large Format KBA presses — an 8-Color and a 7-Color model — are the cornerstones of the Curtis pressroom. The newest 10-Station, 8-Color Press with 2 Coating Units is the first of its kind in North America. It allows us to apply a flexo dispersion metallic ink to your package in the first station, UV Cure it, print 8 colors, and follow through with an second in-line coater and a final extended drying unit. The result: such effects as UV, Matte, Satin, Iridescence, Pearl, Renticulating, and Micro-encapsulation can be created affordably.

Each of the press’ 8 printing stations is equipped to apply UV inks, providing you with a virtually unlimited palette. All the steps are performed in-line through a one-shot sequential operation. That means you can benefit from the eye-catching appeal of gold, platinum, silver or bronze and still maintain your budget.

To add to our quality quotient, we fingerprinted our KBA presses to capture their unique characteristics in order to maximize our digital Agfa CTP workflow.

Make-readies on our KBA Rapida presses take place in a matter of minutes. In fact, our KBAs communicate directly with our CIP3 prepress system, via CTPLink. That allows our ink fountains to be set directly from the same prepress data that is creating plates for your project. So color looks great right from the start. And in production, our closed-loop densitometry system takes over to fine-tune your color and keep it consistent from first sheet to last.
