1845

Samuel Curtis establishes a comb and button factory in Sandy Hook, CT, where Curtis continues to operate today.

1870

Henry Gold Curtis, Samuel’s son, joins the business and discovers the need for boxes to prevent damage to their products during shipping.

1920

The need for quality packaging increases and Curtis begins to focus solely on designing, printing, and converting cartons for packaging purposes.

1950

Nelson Curtis, Samuel’s grandson, becomes president of the company and begins expanding capacity. Curtis becomes an industry leader.

1989

Don Droppo Sr. becomes President of Curtis Packaging, beginning technological investments such as workflow automation and new printing innovations.

2003

Don Droppo Jr. joins as VP of Sales & Marketing, focusing on environmental responsibility. Curtis becomes the first carbon neutral packaging company in North America.

2010

Don Droppo Jr., now President and CEO, champions innovation and quality management—with renewed investments in process, equipment, people, and service.

2012

1st Packaging Company in the world to invest in Scodix S74 Pro Digital Coater.

2017

Rebranded and launched a new logo.

2018

Installation of a 14 Station Koenig & Bauer 106 (28” x 40”) press. This press was the world’s first with its unique configuration.

2021

Celebrated our 176th Anniversary. (Covid canceled the 175th!!!). We also had the  installation of a Bobst 106 Expert Cut.

2022

First Scodix S6000 installation in the world

2023

Installation of a Bobst 145 Expert cut. Completed a building wide renovation.
